Eugen Goettling of Austria set a new world record in the CWT-BF MEN Masters M1 discipline at the 2026 CMAS World Championship Freediving Depth. The achievement took place on August 25, 2026, at the Roatan Freediving School & Training Center in West Bay Beach, Roatan, where Goettling set a new record of 100m, previous record was 93 meters.

Constant Weight Bifins (CWT-BF) is a freediving discipline where athletes descend and ascend using only their fins and muscle strength, without pulling on the rope or changing their ballast. This discipline tests the diver's ability to manage depth and pressure with efficiency and control.

The 2026 CMAS World Championship Freediving Depth, held from August 14 to August 27, is the premier event organized by the World Underwater Federation (CMAS). It brings together the world's top freedivers to compete in various depth disciplines, serving as the flagship event in the sport's calendar.

In a photo from the event, Goettling is seen surfacing from his dive, signaling his success with a raised arm and the traditional "OK" hand gesture, surrounded by safety divers in the clear waters of Roatan.

Reflecting on his performance, Goettling stated, "That was my 3rd CMAS M1 WR. CWTB is not my favorite discipline but it worked out. I'm very happy and thankful to the organization and everybody who supported me."
